Character Breakdown:

ADERO

Male. Mid-30s. Mixed African and Amerindian/Indigenous heritage. At first glance Adero is a bland, mild-mannered professional. This, however, is an identity that he has manufactured for himself; life between orphanages and foster care has taught him that it is better to fit in, even if that means burying what little he knows of who he is. Under the weight of the truth that he begins to unravel this veneer comes under strain and eventually breaks.

OLD WOMAN

Female. Mid-60s. Amerindian/Indigenous (Wapishana).Enigmatic. Wily. She appears frail physically but otherwise she is very strong. At first contact you could be forgiven for thinking that she is mad but there is much, much more to this elderly woman than meets the eye. Ability to speak Wapishana an asset but not necessary.

RICE

Male. 50s. Professional but confident and relaxed in his demeanor. He has nothing to prove. A ‘cool' guy but still knows how to wield authority.

ERROL

Male. 40-45. Wiry and lazy looking. He knows what it means to live a hard life. Not one to waste words.

NURSE

Female. 20s. She hasn’t been in the system long enough to become jaded or unfazed. She quietly observes what happens and is troubled, scared even, by what she sees.
